Chris Adams, Registered Resident in Counseling, Licensed Mental Health Professional

What makes therapy a great experience? Discovering what to focus on can be one of the hardest steps. It can be hard to figure out who or what you need at this moment. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all so let’s work together to figure out what fits you best! I believe that therapy is like an excavation: uncovering who we are, layer by layer, and letting each step of the journey provide clues about our core selves.

If you’ve dealt with substance misuse, anxiety, trauma, or need a place to learn about and/or process “neuro-spicy” experiences and emotions; let’s work together to find solutions. No judgement. No criticism. From solutions-focused CBT and DBT to trauma processing through IFS and ACT, I can work with you one-on-one or in a group setting, focus on building skills, and help you identify areas for growth.

Wherever you are and wherever you’ve been, I want to help you continue your journey and get you to a place of being fully and authentically YOU. If you’re ready, I’m ready! I am a graduate from the College of William and Mary with my Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I completed my work there in 2021 and have been in the Mental Health field since.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Professional and a registered Resident in Counseling with the Virginia Board of Health. Through my coursework and years of experience I have gained competency to work with a wide variety of populations on a wide array of concerns. My experience includes working with groups and individuals in the following areas: incarcerated persons, substance misuse, anxiety/depression, ADHD, as well as being culturally competent for LGBTQIA+, religious groups and spiritual beliefs, and the global majority (or “persons of color”).
