Satrina Artis is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia. Satrina’s approach to therapy is based on the foundations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. She specializes in general issues to include depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, behavioral issues (ODD, Conduct disorder), mood disorders, crisis intervention, life stressors, and grief, anger, impulsivity and communication/social skills. She has worked with a wide population of clients to include children, adolescents, and adults and she is passionate about helping her clients through motivation, identifying their personal strengths, and setting achievable goals from a holistic perspective.
Satrina has a Bachelor’s Degree Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Norfolk State University and a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Norfolk State University. She completed her practicum, internship, and residency experience at Western Tidewater Community Services Board conducting crisis/individual counseling and conducting Virginia preadmission screening for individuals requiring review for acute psychiatric hospitalization. She has over 18 year of clinical experience in the field and her previous experience includes Adult Probation & Parole, intensive in-home counseling, therapeutic day treatment, outpatient therapy, substance abuse treatment, children’s mobile crisis services, and mental health support services. Currently, Satrina is a Crisis Intervention Trainer (CIT) and is a Certified Grief Professional.
Satrina is the mother of one child and enjoys spending time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, relaxing on the beach, binge watching series on Netflix, and “striking” on the bowling lanes.
